About CAP

Over 30 Years of Service to the

Albany Community!

The Albany Community Before & After School Child Care Program (CAP) is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) child care organization governed by a dedicated, committed, and qualified Board of Directors.  CAP is the only state certified and licensed child care after-school program in Albany offering care before and after school as well as all-day care on vacation days, in-service days, winter, spring and summer breaks.  CAP is also the very grateful recipient of a long-standing relationship and partnership with the Greater Albany Public School District.  For over 30 years, CAP has provided child care for GAPS elementary-age children and their working parents.

CAP offers child care before school starting at 6:45am and after school until 6:00pm.  CAP has a strict sign-in/sign out policy in which only those authorized and designated by parents on the registration form may pick up their child.  Additionally, CAP does not have an open-door policy and children are never out of staff sight.  Children involved in CAP are offered a STEAM curriculum as well as a variety of activities including homework assistance, reading centers, games, crafts, gym activities, outdoor play and more.

State Certified:

CAP is licensed and certified by the State of Oregon Office of Child Care (OCC).  This yearly certification process includes fire and sanitation inspections and on-site visits by OCC to ensure state guidelines are being met throughout the program.  Staff qualifications and safety & child development training requirements are monitored through this same yearly certification process.  State licensing guidelines require a child-to-staff ratio of 15:1, however, the average child-to-staff ratio is 7:1 on a regular basis.  This lower ratio increases engagement in learning by providing children with opportunities for personal attention from experienced and trained staff.  Certified, competent and caring CAP staff are committed to providing quality care.  CAP has been successful year after year in meeting all legal and regulatory criteria for the Office of Child Care.

Thank you for choosing CAP to meet your child care needs!
